We’ve already looked at a couple different Mothra figures so now it’s time to look at Mothra’s villainous doppelganger, the dark moth, Battra. Battra isn’t evil per se, he just wants to rid the world of humanity. He regards humans as a blight on the planet that he is supposed to protect, which is fair.

Mothra (6”) (Trendmasters)
In my last review I introduced the company Trendmasters to the blog, and in the review before that I introduced Mothra, albeit in larval form. Considering that, it seems like an ideal time to look at the adult Mothra by Trendmasters. As I mentioned in my Biollante review, Trendmasters produced toys in 4”, 6”, and 10” size ranges, with some able to make sound.
Biollante (4″ & 6″) (Trendmasters)
Biollante is a hybrid kaiju created by Dr. Genichiro Shiragami through the combination of DNA from his deceased daughter, a rose, and Godzilla. Initially looking more like a gigantic rose, Biollante eventually morphs into a monster that’s basically a plant version of Godzilla, resulting in one of the coolest kaiju in Toho’s roster.
Mothra (Larva) (Movie Monster Series by Bandai)
Godzilla (Model Kit on Card) (Super7 Toho Reaction Figures)
One day, while feeling defeated in my search for new Mattel dinosaurs at Target, I decided to peruse the adult collectables section. Being a dinosaur and animal collector first and foremost, I rarely leave this section with anything but also being a sci-fi and horror nerd, I still like to see what they’ve got.
Chupacabra (Spirit Halloween)
The chupacabra (Spanish for “goat sucker”) is a cryptid whose origins can be traced back to1995, when in Puerto Rico livestock began turning up dead, drained of blood, and possessing puncture wounds. Eyewitnesses described a bipedal creature, with large red eyes, spines running down the back, hairless skin, and standing 3-4’ (0.9 to 1.2 m) tall.
Roswell Alien (Alien Series by Shadowbox Collectibles)
Even if you don’t follow ufology and alien coverups, you’ve no doubt heard about the Roswell incident, one of the most famous conspiracy theories of all time. It has been referenced countless times in media, including in The X-files, Independence Day, Star Trek, and The Simpsons, and it has made the city of Roswell, New Mexico a holy land of sorts for ufologists, to the point that Roswell now supports a robust tourism industry based on ufology.
Gizmo (2003) (Gremlins by NECA)
Bigfoot (Archie McPhee)
The poster child for cryptozoology (the search for hidden animals) and a cultural icon, the bigfoot aka sasquatch is an allegedly large, bipedal, primate said to roam the forests of North America. Although primarily associated with the Pacific Northwest, bigfoot has been spotted across the continent, and it goes by many names.
Kong (Godzilla vs. Kong by Playmates)
Dragon (The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Ray Harryhausen Film Library by X-Plus)
The logical follow up to last week’s cyclops review, here’s the dragon from the same film that bested the cyclops in combat! Readers of that review could’ve probably guessed the dragon would be next, based on the comparison picture included in that review that will also be featured here.
