One of the Ice Kingdom’s fiercest warriors, the frost monster has a body composed of the hardest glacial ice. A master at armed combat, he would love nothing more than to wield the “Superweapon,” an enchanted sword of great power.

The frost monster stands 11 cm tall at the tips of his spiky shoulders. He is made entirely of translucent icy blue PVC, with white and darker blue wash to give him a frosted over appearance. His white eyes are outlined with black.

Like his much bigger companion, the ice giant, the frost monster does indeed look like he was carved out of a block of ice. He is noticeably slimmer, though, with proportionally longer limbs. His ferocious head features an enormous lower jaw and sharp teeth. Icicles jut out from his cranium, his back, his shoulders, and all over his arms and legs. He even has spiky knuckles for inflicting painful punches.

The frost monster stands very well thanks to his big feet. His arms rotate at the shoulders and both his fists can grip weapons—although it’s harder to get them into the left one. He comes with a large mace that has a pointed handle and huge icicles covering the head. No doubt he uses it to great effect against his enemies in the other kingdoms.

The frost monster is sold as part of a set called “Battle for the Superweapon.” Said item is a 10 cm long sword with a serrated metallic silver blade and a metallic gold hilt embedded with gems of light blue, dark blue, bright green, and orange. It can be wielded by the frost monster or any other humanoid Eldrador creature in this size category. Alternatively, the sword fits into a slot in a tall chunk of black and orange molten rock. Who’s guarding this prize against the frost monster? You’ll find out next time.

Overall, the Schleich frost monster is a well-conceived, well-crafted and enjoyable toy. But again, he is only available as part of this set, so hopefully you’ll be wanting the entire kaboodle. It’s one of the older Eldrador products, but it’s still in production and available in many stores as well as online.
