The stone dragon is one of the largest residents of the Stone Kingdom of Eldrador. Unlike most other dragons, it lacks wings, but it is certainly no less formidable a fighter.

The stone dragon measures about 18 cm long and 12.5 cm high. It is posed in a ready stance with its feet planted, its head raised tall, and its tail curled. Its lower jaw is hinged, opening to about 30 degrees, and its tail rotates at the base. It has a body head, a super stout neck, thick limbs, and a deep but also relatively narrow torso, which is probably an adaptation for making its way around and through the many rock formations of its habitat.

Like any proper dragon, this one is entirely covered in thick protective scales. But as befits a beast of the Stone Kingdom, the scales on the neck and back resemble jagged rock formations. Best of luck penetrating through all that. There are also several clumps of lichen growing on the dragon’s body.

With the rock beast.

In addition to its sharp teeth and claws, the stone dragon boasts three enormous horns atop its head, and its tail is outfitted with a very large and very spiky club. All this makes it a most formidable foe indeed.

The only shortcoming about this toy is its paintjob. The main colour is medium grey all over with tiny light green eyes, but the grey has been applied unevenly in many areas. I’m guessing that the goal was to make the rocky texture look more realistic, but it comes off as looking unfinished instead, particularly on the tail. And while the horns on the head are translucent bright green, the spiky club is solid flat green. It would have been nicer had they both been translucent green instead.

Aside from its paintjob, the Schleich stone dragon is a pretty fun and neat-looking monster toy. Currently available where Eldrador toys are sold.
