Shadow Lynx (Eldrador by Schleich)

Despite its large size, the sinister shadow lynx slinks and stalks silently through its realm. Once it has located its target, it lies in wait for just the right moment before leaping out to attack with its fangs, claws, and spikes.

The Schleich shadow lynx is sculpted in a ready pose with its right front paw raised, its hind legs poised to spring, and its tail swinging to the left. The head is cocked to the right and the mouth is open in a snarl. It measures about 16 cm long and 9 cm high at the spikes.

The main colour here is, not surprisingly, black. There are dark purple scutes on the elbows and knees and the head is lined with white streaks. The eyes are red, the teeth are white, and the mouth is dark purple. And finally, the back armour and the tail are translucent purple.

With the shadow stone monster.

Despite being called a lynx, this monster only superficially resembles one. The head features the characteristic large and pointed ears, but the body is much more robust, especially the chest. The paws are also smaller and narrower than a real lynx’s, with very large claws. Shielding its back is heavy spiked armour. Finally, the tail is fairly large, furless, and ends in a bladed tip.

The sculpting detail is solid. The translucent bits look creepy and dangerous (in spite of being quite safe). The fur looks realistic and the paws feature padding on the soles. And the teeth and claws look very menacing. This is definitely one of the scariest shadow monsters yet.

The shadow lynx is presently available only in a two pack with the rock crusher, but on the whole, I’d say it is well worth it, especially if you have two young monster fans residing under your roof. As well, this mould is being rereleased this year as an Ice Kingdom denizen, and it looks very cool (no pun intended).
