The ice dragon is one of the most common and formidable creatures dwelling in the Ice Kingdom of Eldrador. As skillful at flying as it is at fighting, it can swoop down on an enemy from seemingly out of nowhere and render them encased in solid ice before they know it.

The Eldrador ice dragon is a repaint of the earlier ice hunter dragon from Schleich’s fantasy assortment. It is mostly painted white with sand blue applied to its feet, underbelly, tail, neck, muzzle, and tongue. Its eyes and horns are translucent light blue and its wings are translucent light blue with light blue airbrushing to give them a more solid appearance. Fitting colours for a frosty character.

The ice dragon is sculpted in a confrontational stance with its feet planted, its head and tail raised, and the mouth wide open. One of the smallest dragons in the Eldrador line, it measures 16.5 cm long and stands 12.5 cm high at the tip of its tail. But it does boast the largest wings in proportion to its body, spanning an impressive 33 cm from tip to tip.

The ice dragon’s muzzle is very short and blunt, but still equipped with plenty of sharp teeth. Multiple horns sprout from its skull, including a pair of very long ones extending back from behind the orbits. Large, thick scales and scutes cover the entire body and spurs jut out from the limbs. Three rows of plates run down the length of the spine, the largest being the middle row.

The tip of the ice dragon’s tail is large, flattened, and spiky, making it as formidable a weapon as its jaws. Its ball-jointed wings have a very typical dragon design to them, but instead of being leathery, they are made up of icy, blade-like feathers. They look very impressive and have a good range of motion, although they have a tendency to pop off rather easily during play. However, they pop back on just as easily. And as you can see, the right front leg is warped on this one, but it doesn’t affect stability and my boys certainly have never complained.

Overall, this is a pretty good dragon toy. Appropriate colouration, fine sculpting, and good play value. It is now one of the oldest Eldrador beasts, but can still be found in stores everywhere.
