Tohokyo Views - A Gallery Of Kaiju Toy Photography - Now UK Friendly

"Tohokyo" is a portmanteau of "Toho Studios", the film company home of the Godzilla franchise, and "Tokyo", the Kaiju's favorite target city.

I've been taking these photos for seven years now, and I'm currently on a hiatus, but I have a few new techniques I want to try and photos I'd like to take. Hopefully the new forum will push me to get something done.

Until then, here are some shots from over the years. Not just Godzilla, or Kaiju-eiga, but there will be some Harryhausen, and some other things here too. ENJOY!

Here's the first toy photo I ever took...




... and how I did it. The Fuji backdrop was the packaging from NECA.




For a while, I was focused outdoors...











... but I really wanted to capture that 'soundstage/painted background' look of Toho's Showa Era films, so I made a sky/clouds backdrop with some bulletin board liner paper from the teacher's supply aisle at Michaels, and collected myself some Japanese model railroad buildings and scenery in the appropriate scale, and my miniature Japanese metropolis, "Tohokyo" was born...

They're hosted at Imgur, and I don't believe I have any limitations on views set there.
