Shadow Worm (Eldrador by Schleich)

Of all the hideous and sinister beasts that inhabit the Shadow World of Eldrador, the enormous shadow worm could well be the worst. It enjoys nothing more than bursting out of the ground to attack unsuspecting victims with its cutting mandibles and razor-sharp spikes!

The 2025 Schleich shadow worm measures 26 cm long from end to end. Its main colour is dark grey with taupe grey for the underbelly. Its eyes are red, its mouth is light pink, and the mandibles and horns on its head are dark purple. Dark purple spikes are also present on its tail. Finally, there are triple rows of translucent purple spikes running down its body and a pair of them jutting out from the tip of the tail. A most sinister colour scheme, like all Shadow monsters.

With the Jungle Dragon.

Don’t let the name fool you for an instant. In addition to its huge size, this worm is well equipped for both defence and offence. Its body is covered in rough, pitted, thick armour plating and the spikes are fairly sharp. You really wouldn’t want to accidentally step on this toy without shoes or slippers on. The mouth parts and the mandibles flanking them look vicious and deadly and the spikes at the tip of the tail could be construed as venomous. The underbelly is also heavily armoured and lined with small, stumpy limbs like on an inchworm or a caterpillar.

The main selling point of the Shadow worm is its awesome articulation. It is made up of no less than ten segments connected by large ball joints. And as you can see from the images, the worm can be put in all manner of active poses. It’s not long enough to constrict another monster like a python or a boa, but theoretically, one could purchase two or more worms and then merge the body segments to create a colossal one. I suspect my sons will want me to do just that. :/

The Schleich shadow worm is easily one of the weirdest, creepiest, and most fun toys in the entire Eldrador line. Definitely worth the purchase. It should be available wherever such monsters are sold.
